The mystery of powerful prayers

The mystery of powerful prayers

Posted on 18 September 2011 by kewing

The quality of our prayer is dependent on how much of God’s word is inclusive in our prayer. We are commanded to always pray, Luke 18:1. Why! Because spiritual battles are consistent and never ending, we are of the view that if things are good the invisible war (spiritual war) is done. No my friend, this thinking can be deadly and at best misleading.

Our weapons become even more powerful when we pray the scriptures. Scripture says, “The word of God is quicker, powerful and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing and dividing asunder of soul and spirit and of the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” Heb. 4:12.  Now you tell me what earthly weapon can do such a thing?

Usually when I pray I imagine while I am praying the word as a sword being wield and inflicting  damage in the world that we cannot see but very much exist. No wonder why God said to remind him of his word. Not that he had forgotten his word, but that we must use it to cause more damage in the spirit world. So even though we’re praying words those words become weapons.

Let us look at another scripture, James 5:13-15, isn’t it interesting when James said that if any among you are afflicted let him pray James 5:13? However in James 5:15 he not only speak of prayer but the prayer of FAITH!

Now, as a reminder, God said that it is impossible to please him without faith, Hebrews 11:6, so clearly faith is a necessity as it relates to our prayers, but what is faith? Well guess what? Faith is God’s word. Scripture tells us that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God, Romans 10:17. So if faith comes by hearing and what one is hearing must be the word of God, then it is clear that faith is the word of God.

I beg you on this wonderful morning, read the scriptures frequently so that you would have no problem retrieving the word when it is time to pray. I have found it to be most effective. In praying the word you are literally coming in agreement with God’s word and according to scripture (Hebrews. 11:6) this is what pleases him.

Miss Bikini Bahamas goes to China to Compete

Miss Bikini Bahamas goes to China to Compete

Posted on 18 September 2011 by drussell

Rayne Ambrister, a 17 year old graduate of Sunland Baptist Academy High School, officially carries on the crown and title of Miss Bikini Bahamas, a new franchise that has been added to the Miss Grand Bahama Organization collection. She was carefully selected to represent her country, The Bahamas, because of her experience in pageantry. She has represented the Bahamas in Santo Domingo at the Beauty of the World Pageant and has won the Beauty  Of the World International Pageant. She was also the winner of  Cinderella Bahamas, where she went on to  represent the Bahamas  in the International Cinderella Scholarship Pageant in Las Vegas, winning numerous awards there. Lastly, Rayne placed second runner-up in the 2010 Miss Grand Bahama Beauty Pageant.

Rayne Ambrister will be representing the Bahamas in the Miss Bikini International Pageant in Sanya China, commencing from  September 8th 2011 to September 30th 2011 with world finals being held on September 26 2011. She will be competing against prominent  countries such as Angola, Australia, Austria, Bolivia, Brazil, Japan, India, Uganda and Venezuela to name a few. About 81 countries are competing  for this  prestigious title.

Here at Bahamian Illustrated we are so very proud of Rayne Ambrister. In fact, we had a little interview with the Miss Bikin Bahamas herself!

When asked how she felt about the competition and whether or not this was her first time traveling to Sanya China, she responded saying “Yeah,” meaning that this was her very first time ever traveling to Sanya China and that she feels “Pretty much excited!” and how she “can’t wait” to go. What particular thing would she like to experience while away representing the beautiful Bahamas? Winning of course! When asked, Rayne responded “Yeah, first of all I would most likely like to win.” This young competitor is most definitely in it to win it. No surprise there, considering that Rayne goes on to tell us that there are 80 girls competing. Yikes! Competing against so many girls in a different country can be intimidating to any new comer to pageantry, but not Rayne Ambrister. When asked where she has previously competed, she tells us “Dominican Republic” and “Las Vegas”. Here at Bahamian Illustrated we are rooting for Miss Bikini Bahamas, what about you?

KB to launch Children’s Book, Friday, September 30th at Eight Mile Rock High

Posted on 14 September 2011 by bahamianillustrated

A local Bahamian recording artist is broadening his range to include the title of author.
Kirkland “KB” Bodie, with publishing company Media Unlimited, and illustrated by art teacher Alisa Streather-Robinson, has published a book entitled “Bahamian Lyrical Tales” which will be launched during the opening of the library in Eight Mile Rock on Friday September 30th, 2011 at 3pm.
There he will be autographing the books for his fans.
The book is a group of short stories based on songs he has written that were all hits… well except for The Greasy Man, a story that has been told orally for years and for the first time is now in print. But, complementing this he has produced a score with the same name that he has on his latest album.
This is his first but not last venture in the print world as he has a number of other stories that he says is bursting to come out. And, he wants to tell his life story… a book we can wait to read as it will tell of even his acclaims including being a three time Cacique Award winner.
This week he is in Nassau telling of this great piece of literature on the various radio stations, but he looks forward to the launch with the Ministry of Education on Friday.
In case you are wondering, yes the story of one of his greatest hits, “She Fat” is including in this first book and is at the beginning entitled “Gussimae”.
And for those thinking of the types of tales told, get a copy because this book is geared toward children.
For those wanting to get a copy you call 553 2699. Or make sure you are at the launch on Friday.

Rated as one of the region’s top 10 Beaches

Posted on 06 September 2011 by bahamianillustrated

Treasure Cay Beach, Abaco is rated as one of the region’s top 10 most beautiful beaches in the region. This 3.5 miles of white sandy beach is definitely a sight to behold.

The turquoise water stretches for miles; and the first utterance from the first time beach goers of this beautiful beach is wow! Treasure Cay Beach was voted one of the region’s top 10 beaches in a reader poll by Caribbean Travel & Life. “There are no pictures that can prepare a visitor for the awesome sight of this beach; its size, its white powdery sand and those beautiful blue waters. All that and there are no crowds; you will get the feeling of being on your own private Island.

We encourage Bahamians to experience the diverse beauty of our family Islands this summer. Treasure Cay Abaco is a 25minute plane ride from Grand Bahama and 35-40 minute ride from Nassau.
